Cookie Facts

Here are some interesting facts about cookies:

– The Toll House chocolate chip cookie was invented in 1933 by Ruth Wakefield. She was the owner of the Toll House Inn. She added bits of a broken chocolate bar into her butter drop cookie mixture.

– Before he became Cookie Monster, the Sesame Street muppet said his name was Sid.

– The desert camouflage pattern worn by US forces in the first Gulf War was nicknamed chocolate chip, because it resembled chocolate chip cookie dough.

– Nabisco’s Chips Ahoy were the biggest selling packaged chocolate chip cookie in 2006.

– Americans purchase about 100 million bags of chocolate chips every year.
