When she began her own wine portfolio, she knew she’d be giving back.  In 2012, Cheryl launched the HandCraft Artisan Collection of wines with a commitment of donating $100,000 toward breast cancer research, prevention and awareness.  Cheryl has now teamed up with Susan G. Komen 3Day National Spokesperson, Dr Sheri Phillips, to create the HandCraft Heroes campaign on Facebook. This initiative seeks to honor those individuals who share their time, talent, resources, and by their actions, inspire others to seek early detection for breast cancer as well as those who support patients who are ill and undergoing treatment.  HandCraft Heroes will run through September 30, 2013.  Nominees will be evaluated by an independent team of judges chaired by Dr. Sheri Phillips, board certified physician, breast cancer survivor and Susan G. Komen 3Day National Spokesperson. Three winners will be selected to become HandCraft Heroes and will be honored at a private inspirational retreat hosted by Dr. Sheri and Cheryl in Monterey, California in February 2014. In addition, Cheryl will donate $2000 to the pink charity of each winner’s choice.  Winners will be announced during Breast Cancer Awareness Month on October 15th, 2013.

HandCraft Artisan Collection wines celebrate the California home and Italian heritage of Cheryl. She gives classic grape varieties her own personal touch by adding a playful dash of Italian and heritage varietals as a nod to the vineyard-to-barrel ?eld selections that found their place daily at the Italian table when she was growing up. The result is distinctive, fruit-forward wines that are easy to enjoy and share with others.

Grapes for this white wine blend come from both warm and cool climates in California. It is a 2012 vintage and you will definitely smell aromas of bright citrus, honeysuckle, peach, apricot and
green apple. You will taste melon, nectarine and peach with a touch of lemon zest. I really liked this wine. I found that it would probably go well with pretty much everything. I did a small tasting with friends, and we all agreed this was a pretty great wine.

Fruit for Inspiration Red is sourced from Northern and Central California viticultural regions with climates ranging from Mediterranean to coastal. This is a full-bodied and juicy red wine blend. Rich aromas of spice, blackberry and plum rise will be enjoyed from this wine. You will taste a hint of vanilla and a touch of sweetness. This wine would be perfect to sip on a cold winter’s night or alongside some good old fashioned BBQ. My tastetasters and I also thought it would be a great dessert wine also.

Both these wines were great, and I would recommend both of them. I also love that this company does give back and what better cause than breast cancer.
