Custom Gift Cards

Since my contests on here have been such a big hit, what better thing to do than send out custom Gift Cards as a prize? I could easily add a picture like this:

(Yes, that is Madison in all her kitchen garb!)

Who can make this all possible? Visa’s Gift Card Lab! I know I hate giving gift cards as gifts, because they have no personality to them. However, when you are able to personalize them, you give them life and memories to them. You may see a personalized gift card giveaway in the near future!

Key Ingredient

Have you ever found an ingredient in your house and you seriously couldn’t figure out what to make with it? I know it happens all the time here. I have the greatest site ever that will help you figure out what to make for dinner. Key Ingredient is one of those sites that you wonder where it has been all your life. Seriously. I looked for ground beef since we seem to always have an overabundance of that. I found a ton of recipes to try and about ten that I think I will be trying. I actually had to walk away since there were too many to choose from, and I only do my menus a week out.

The other reason this site is so cool is that you can add your own Easy Recipes to it. It is your own little recipe box online. You are able to list your recipe, upload a photo, etc. I used the Skillet Potatoes recipe from the post below:

Skillet Pizza Potatoes

See Skillet Pizza Potatoes on Key Ingredient.

Now, I am trying to figure out if I like this better than listing the recipes out. Maybe I’ll keep them in both places since I really like this site. I also love the social networking features of this site. I know a couple people on here so I will definitely be friending them.

If you are in need of some dinner help, definitely check out this site and in a few of your recipes too!

Heathier Ways To Grill

Here are a couple of tips to help you do some healthier grilling this summer.  There have been several studies done that have shown that eating grilled red meat may raise your risk of cancer.

  • Scrape off any charred portions off the racks.
  • Raise the grill racks and keep the temperature lower to lessen the smoke and the flames that reach the food.
  • Flip your food with tongs or with a spatula.  A fork will pierce your food which releases the juice and fat that leads to flare ups.
  • Grill skinless chicken and fish.
  • Microwave meat before grilling and use oil free marinades to hinder the formation of cancer causing chemicals.
  • Make kebabs with fruits and vegetables which don’t form harmful chemicals when flame cooked.

Pizza By The Yard

1 bag frozen Italian meatballs (about 32)
1 jar (26 oz) tomato pasta sauce
1 loaf French bread
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

In a large bowl, place meatballs and microwave 3 minutes. Cut meatballs in half and return to bowl. Stir in sauce. Cover with wax paper. Microwave for 6-8 minutes or until hot.

Set oven to broil. Cut bread in half crosswise. Then cut each in half lengthwise making 4 pieces. Place bread, cut side up, on a large ungreased cookie sheet.

Spoon hot meatballs and sauce evenly onto bread. Sprinkle with cheese. Broil 4-6 inches fro heat 1-2 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Tip Of The Day

Use stone ground whole wheat flour for rolls with a heartier, coarser texture.

KitchenAid Stand Mixer, anyone?

Over at My Wooden Spoon, there is an awesome contest going on in where you can win a prize every week from now to July 31st!  One of the many prizes you can win is a new KitchenAid Stand Mixer.  Who can’t use one of those?  She makes it super easy to enter for everyone too!  You can add a banner to your sidebar, add her to your blogroll, write a post, make a comment, etc.  Good luck!

Want To Win A Cookbook?

No, not here. However, over at Cass Knits she is having a contest to win a Martha Stewart Cookies cookbook. It is very easy to enter. You can stumble her post, leave a comment, and/or write a post about the contest. Since Madison loves making cookies, I would definitely like to win this. Plus, the cookie pictures Cass posted look seriously yummy.

Welcome!

Anybody who knows me knows I don’t cook. I figure that there have to be other people out there like me. I created this blog to help those people. I will try to include photos when possible of the recipes. Unfortunately, sometimes people in my house decide to eat before I can get a picture. I am hoping that this can become a resource for those who are not cooking inclined. I am also trying a star system to help you determine what recipes will work best for you and your family. As you can see from the recipes I have already included that the main thing I am looking for is easy. With having 2 little ones under the age of 5, I need easy. My rating system goes from 1 star (worst) to 5 stars (best).

If you try any of these recipes, let me know. Also, if you made any changes, I would love to know that too! Happy Eating!
