He loves chips. He loves chips with flavor. He doesn’t like stale pieces of cardboard which is what most baked chips taste like in his opinion. However, Pirate Potato Flyers may have just become his new favorite potato chip. The first thing he said when he tried these was “I can’t believe how good these are” and “are you sure they are baked?”

Yes, Potato Flyers are baked potato chips that have half the fat and a quarter less calories than the leading potato chip brand. Unlike other baked chips, Potato Flyers are baked with pressure which makes them crispy and tasty. Like all Pirate Brands snacks, Potato Flyers are all-natural, trans-fat and gluten free and provide a first-class crunch. Best of all, the chips are only 120 calories for a one ounce serving. Potato Flyers come in Original, Sour Cream & Onion, Homestyle Barbeque and Sea Salt & Vinegar flavors. You are able to get them in two sizes: 1.5 oz ($1.49) and 5.5 oz bags ($2.99).

Pigs have now officially flown since we have a baked potato chips packed with flavor!

This post was written for Family Review Network & Pirate Brands who provided the complimentary product in exchange for my honest review.

It has to be one of the coolest cookbooks out there. I’m serious. Not only does it have recipes for you to try in here, but it explains the science of it too. It tell you the “how” and the “why” which is just what a geek and a kitchen newbie need and want. Cooking For Geeks will inspire you to be more creative in the kitchen, because you understand how things work instead of just throwing it all together. However, as cool as the science of cooking is, the interviews are the best! There are interviews with researchers, food scientists, knife experts, chefs, and writers! My favorite interview has to be with Adam Savage from Mythbusters. His answers just made me laugh (you’ll have to read the book about what myths about roadkill he’d love to do!).

This is a book for everyone — the kid going to college, a novice in the kitchen, and even somebody who has been cooking for 30 years. I can guarantee you will learn something by reading Cooking For Geeks!

If you’ve never been to Sonic, it’ll feel like you took a step back in time. You drive up to your menu and order. Then, your waiter comes to the car to collect your money. Of course, said waiter is on skates! How cool is that. Oh yeah, when he collects your money he brings you your food too! For those who have eaten at Sonic before, they can tell you that this a great place to get a burger. Not only is the food good, but their customer service rocks too. There is somebody ready, willing, and able to help you. They constantly checked to make sure we were okay and didn’t need anything.

On Saturday afternoon, while visiting family up in Green Bay, WI, we decided to go have an ice cream social at Sonic after a morning of Bay Beach and The Wildlife Sanctuary! First we ordered:

Then we got our ice cream:

As you can see, we got a little bit everything there off their Real Ice Cream Frozen Treat Menu. We got Jr. Candy Sundaes, Vanilla Dishes, Strawberry Sundaes, and even a Sonic Blast. Are you hungry yet?

Since my family and I had such a great time, I’ve arranged for one lucky reader of mine to get their own ice cream social at Sonic! You’ll be able to invite up to ten of your friends and family! I’ve also arranged for two prizes for the runners-up: SONIC lunch boxes that each come with a “Keep it Real” ice cream t-shirt, a $5 MySonic card and some other goodies. Pretty cool? Here’s what you need to do:

Head over to Sonic‘s website and check out their Real Ice Cream Frozen Treat Menu. What would you order?

These will give you one additional entry (for each thing):
