Four Foods On Friday 40
Written by Lisa on August 1, 2008 – 4:40 pm -Here are this week’s four questions. This week they’re about candy. If you want to join Val’s Meme, check it out here.
#1. Candy. Do you prefer sweet or sour candy? Sweet
#2. Gum. Love it? Hate it? What kind is your favorite? Love it. Anything that tastes like bubble gum, I like.
#3. What is your favorite candy? Its a tie between M&Ms and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
#4. Share a recipe for anything that you can include a piece of candy in.
Mini Pizza Cookies
1 20 oz tube of refrigerated sugar cookie dough
2 cups (16 oz) prepared pink frosting
M&Ms Chocolate Mini baking Bits
Variety of additional toppings such as shredded coconut, granola, raisins, candy, nuts, small pretzels, snack mixes, sunflower seeds, popped corn, and mini marshmellows
Preheat over to 350 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheets and set aside.
Divide dough into 8 equal portions. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion of dough into 1/4 inch thick circle. Place about 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets. Bake 10 - 13 minutes or until golden brown on edges. Cool completely on wire racks.
Spread top of each pizza with frosting. Sprinkle with M&M’s Chocolate Mini baking Bits and 2 or 3 of the suggested toppings.
This is a great easy to make recipe for kids too! They truly enjoy being able to decorate their own “pizza”

6 Superfoods
Written by Lisa on April 1, 2008 – 10:57 am -Did you know that there are foods out there that can be used as health boosting agents?
Coconut Milk
Coconut milk is both rich and the fat is mostly saturated. It also contains lots of lauric acid which is an antiviral, antibacterial fatty acid. Lauric acid is also one of the immune boosters that babies get from breast milk.
Grass Fed Beef
Beef is a source of iron, vitamin B, and zinc. However, grass fed beef resembles the game that our ancestors ate. It contains less fat, more anticancer fat, and more omega-3 fatty acids.
Nuts
Nuts are rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats and antioxidants. Walnuts are one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids which fight obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
Cinnamon
Studies have shown that cinnamon regulates blood sugar, inhibits cancer cells, and is anti-inflammatory.
Raw Honey and Molasses
Use these sweeteners instead of sugar. Raw honey contains phytonutrients enzymes that aid digestion. Molasses is a good source of iron and other minerals.
Olive Oil
Olive oil contains monounsaturated fats, phenols, and Vitamin E. In plain English, that means it reduces inflammation, has cancer fighting antioxidants, and lowers the risk of heart disease, protest skin from damaging agents, and prevents nerve damage.
