Slow Cooker Pot Roast
Written by Lisa on November 11, 2008 – 10:16 pm -
I always love easy to make slow cooker recipes. I love being able to throw together a few things in the morning, and then have supper ready for that evening. Like tonight, Bill was over an hour late, but the kids and I were able to eat.
1 cup beef broth
1/3 cup Italian dressing
1/4 cup BBQ sauce (I used Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce)
1 tsp oregano leaves
1 lb beef stew meat
4 potatoes
1 bag baby carrots (16oz)
1 large onion, cut into chunks
3 tbsp tastefully Simple Bacon Bacon Seasoning (A couple pieces of chopped up bacon should work too)
3 tbsp flour
3 tbsp water
Mix broth, dressing, BBQ sauce, and oregano in a bowl. Put all remaining ingredients in the slow cooker except for the flour and water. Pour bowl mixture over the ingredients in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8 - 9 hours (or 4 - 5 hours on high).
Fifteen minutes before you want to serve, use a slotted spoon and transfer meat and veggies to a serving bowl. Cover with foil.
In a bowl, mix the flour and water until well blended. Stir into slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 15 minutes. Spoon over meat and vegetables.

In a hurry and need a quick and easy recipe? This easy to make slow cooker recipe will be right up your alley. I only use things that you will have around your house. You just throw everything in, turn the slow cooker on, and it will be ready for dinner that night. (This works extremely well when your significant other doesn’t come home at the same time every night, and you and the kids need to eat. It is still hot when they come home.)
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
4 potatoes cubed
1 packet of Onion soup mix
Place chicken breasts and cubed potatoes in slow cooker. Pour the can of cream of mushroom soup over the top. Then sprinkle the onion soup mix over the top. Cover and set to low for 6 - 8 hours.

Prego Easy Chicken Cacciatore
Written by Lisa on October 9, 2008 – 11:35 pm -
Like most people, we are a very busy family here, so we often order out which can quickly add up. However, with the economy taking the downturn it has, everyone is looking for ways to save money. I recently read in my local newspaper that people are joining food co-ops and buy whole cows to save money. Another great way to save money, is to quit ordering out. Instead, you can save a lot of money by making homecooked meals. This easy to make recipe is not only easy but pretty cheap to make also. This recipe will make 4 servings, and the total cost of this meal is $13.04 (which include the serving suggestions). Where else can you feed your family for that cheap? I do have to thank Prego for this great recipe to try out. My family loved it and I am sure yours will too!
1 tbsp of vegetable oil
1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cubed
1 jar Prego Chunky Garden Mushroom & Green Pepper Italian Sauce
8 oz rotini pasta, cooked and drained
Heat oil in a 10 inch skillet over medium high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 10 minutes or until well browned stirring often.
Stir the sauce in the skillet and heat to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through. Serve chicken mixture with the pasta.
Serving suggestions: Served with whole green beans and soft wheat dinner rolls. Dessert should be mini-eclaires.
