Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup butter
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2⅓ cups mashed overripe bananas
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. In a separate bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar. Stir in eggs and mashed bananas until well blended. Stir banana mixture into flour mixture and pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 60 to 65 minutes until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean.
  4. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, take it out of the pan and cool on a wire rack.

Who isn’t a M&M’s fan? I know my family enjoys a ton of the M&M’s candy. Did you know that they have recently come out with a new product? It is called M&M’s Candy Corn White Chocolate. How yummy does this M&M’s candy corn sound? Now, your local Walmart should be carrying this (however, mine does not). Now, with a cool new product, of course, we need a cool recipe to use them in. For Halloween, I personally like to make scarecrow cookies. Here’s what my shopping trip looked like:

Here’s the recipe:

For the cookies:

1 cup soft butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
19 oz package of M&M’s (separate out about 100 M&M’s for the scarecrow eyes and a few extra to snack on along the way)

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl, mix together the butter and sugars until they are light and fluffy. Then beat in the egg, the vanilla, and the M&Ms. (This make break the M&Ms but you don’t see the cookie after the frosting anyway).

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Add both bowls together and mix.

Grease your cookie sheets and then drop 1 heading teaspoon (or a heading tablespoon if you want larger cookies). Bake for 10 – 13 minutes. Cool, then frost.

Frosting

6 tbsp butter
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup of milk
1 tsp of vanilla

Melt the butter on your stovetop. Remove from the heat and add in the powdered sugar. Add the milk. If needed, keep adding more milk until you get the consistency that you are looking for. Frost the top of each cookie.

To decorate the cookies:

Sugar wafers
Candy corn
M & M’s
Bran cereal
Licorice Strings

First, cut a sugar wafer in half. Add a dollop of frosting to the top edge of the cookie and stick a wafer half to it for a hat top. Place a whole sugar wafer just below the hat top for a brim. Add a small licorice piece for hat trim. Press pieces of the bran cereal into the frosting around the hat. For the face, press on a candy corn nose, M & M eyes, and a licorice string mouth.
