Wasa Review and Giveaway

This giveaway is now over. The winner is Justine. Congrats!

Wasa Flatbreads are made with a few, simple all natural ingredients.  They are then seasoned and oven baked for a one of a kind taste.  This healthier cracker offers endless topping possibilities.  In addition, the Stay Fresh packs make them a great on the go snack.  They come in three flavors:  Original, Sesame, and Rosemary.

We were given one of each to try.  The Original Wasa Flatbreads on their own seemed a little bland.  However, if you top it with a flavored cream cheese of some sort, it was way better.  The sesame was good with everything we put on top of it (cheese, sausage, dip, etc).  However, our favorite was the Rosemary.  These flatbreads were good on their own, and also worked well with all the topics we tried with it.  We served these at a football party we were having, and everyone seemed to like them!  If you are looking for a healthier snack in your house, give Wasa Flatbreads a try!

Since we liked them so much, I’ve arranged for one of my lucky readers to get a Wasa Prize Pack!   The winner will get all 3 flavors of Wasa, a Wasa branded tin, flash drive and pen, tote bag, and a book on recipes with flatbreads!  Here’s what you need to do:

Party With Hormel

Hormel is a brand that I always have in my house. They have so many things I use on a regular basis like their pepperoni, their bacon, their pork sausage, and even their chili. However, when it comes time to have a party, Hormel is a must have.

We recently were invited to have a party using Hormel products, so I want to pass along what you need for the ultimate football party. (I had a few more pictures, but I’m having problems with my camera phone. Sprint and I are having it out as we speak as I try to get the remaining pictures off. However, I’m hoping you can make due with these).

A must have at any football party is dip. Now there are several kinds of dip you can serve, but these are two of my favorites.

First, you have the Warm and Cheesy Bacon Dip. This is thick, yummy, and warm. Definitely a great choice if its cold outside! (Below are the before and after pics)

I like to show both pictures since the first time I made it I wasn’t sure if I did it correctly. However, this bacon dip is super easy:

2 cups sour cream
2 cups shredded Cheddar Cheese
1/2 cup green onion (I don’t use this for mine because nobody here likes green onions)
1 4.3 oz package of Hormel Premium Real Crumbled Bacon
1 8oz package of cream cheese

Heat over to 400 degrees. In a bowl, combine all of the ingredients and then place in a 1 qt baking dish. Cover and heat for 30 minutes or until hot. You can serve this with vegetables, chips, or even crackers. I even tried cutting up some bread and it was great on that too!

Another dip I have to recommend is chili cheese dip.  This is the favorite in my house.

1 lb Velveeta cheese
1 can (15 oz) Hormel Chili

Cube cheese product (The smaller the cubes, the faster it will melt). Add cheese and chili into a dish and place in microwave for 4 minutes. Stir and cook in microwave until cheese is melted.

We tend to eat this with chips, but you can use veggies, bread, crackers, etc for it.

Now, dips will only get you so far.  You definitely need to have something that will fill everybody up.  We like to make homemade pizzas.

The great thing is that you can have everybody make their own personal pizza, and they can put on whatever they like.  My kids absolutely love the mini Hormel pepperoni.  They think that they are “kid sized” for them.  :)  However, I do think they eat just as many of them as what ends up on their pizza.  I’m a fan of the Hormel Original Pepperoni myself.  The above ingredients (crust, pizza sauce, Hormel pepperoni products, cheese, Italian sausage, etc) are what the kids and I use.  Bill, on the other hand, has a whole lot more he puts on.  Like I said, that’s the beauty of it.  Everybody gets what they want, and everybody will leave your house full!  Everybody can create whatever size pizza they want, use whatever kind of crust they want (I had both regular and thin crust available), and these pizzas are done in less than 20 minutes!

Hormel has a great line of products that work great for parties.  Here are just a few of them:
