SunRidge Farms Nuts

Did you know that August 3rd was Grab Some Nuts Day?  If you missed, have no fear — you can still enjoy some nuts!  This summer, whether you’re on a hike, on a long bike ride, or at the office and need a burst of energy and protein, you know what to do.

SunRidge has a few great nuts to try out:

  • SunRidge Farms’ Thai Curry Cashews – batch roasted cashews are tossed in exotic all natural spices cumin, turmeric, paprika and cayenne pepper.  Everybody like these!
  • SunRidge Farms’ Sea Salt and Pepper Cashews – nutty, buttery cashews are sprinkled with a perfect blend of sea salt a cracked black pepper.  These are my husband’s personal favorite.  He said they were awesome.
  • SunRidge Farms’ Wasabi Tamari Almonds – batch roasted almonds and carefully seasoned with bold wasabi and savory tamari spices.  These weren’t as hot as I thought they would be (which is good for me because I’m not a huge fan of hot and spicy).  We had some family try these too, and they were surprised by them.  My SIL said she normally doesn’t like almonds and liked these!

All of the above products are all natural and do not contain GMOs, hydrogenated oils, preservatives or artificial ingredients. Even better, these products are not only great for you, they’re also great for the environment! All of them are produced in SunRidge Farms’ recently expanded solar-powered manufacturing facility. Hand-crafted in small batches using only the finest, healthiest and freshest ingredients, they also are naturally flavored and colored.  The company also uses biodiesel delivery trucks, powers its sales fleet with hybrid vehicles, offers recycling education classes, and pays employees $5 a day to bike to and from work!

A great company and a great nuts.  What more can you ask for?

Melt

I am always looking for ways to eat better for both my family and myself.  That is why I was willing to check out Melt.  Melt is made of virgin coconut oil, flax seed oil, palm fruit oil and canola oil and supports digestive wellness, optimal nutrition absorption and healthy weight. It’s sold in stores such as Whole Foods, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Albertsons and Sprouts. Melt’s organic, soy-free, gluten-free, cholesterol-free and certified Kosher.

Melt supports healthy weight when replacing other fats in your daily diet and the healthy goodness cooks, tops and bakes just like butter (with absolutely no hydrogenated oils).  I personally found that it tasted just like butter to me.  However, we took this camping (melt was perfect for camping) and was told that yes you can taste the coconut oil, but that it was even better than butter.  We’ve used this in as many ways as possible — I’ve added it to toast and bagels, I’ve used it for baking, and we used it camping to make eggs.  It passed all of our tests.  This is a product that we will be using for the foreseeable future!

Since you are taking the time to read about this great new product on my blog, I wanted to tell you about a great contest they are having right now.  You can win a $500 VISA gift card for a Mingle With Melt dinner party for 10 friends–a chic, healthy night in with friends and family! Whichever blog the winning reader comes from, that blogger wins too!  Sooo if you go here and enter, please make sure that you let them know that Lisa Cooking sent you!

If you are in need for healthy cooking oils or healthy gluten free butter or just a substitute for butter, definitely try out Melt!

Snackimals Giveaway!

This giveaway is now over. The winner is Timmy. Congrats!

Peanut butter and chocolate –two of those classic flavors that can instantly take you back to childhood. And, for moms like yourself looking to avoid high fructose corn syrup and artificial ingredients, finding that balance between nourishing your kids and allowing them to indulge in those classic childhood treats can be difficult.  Barbara’s Bakery, known for their all-natural cereals, has several snacks that follow their “say no to the bad stuff” mantra. These snackimals have no hydrogenated Oils, no artificial flavors, no artificial preservatives, no refined sugar, no trans fats, no artificial additives, and no high fructose corn syrup. Barbara’s just introduced two new flavors to their Snackimals (animal cookies) line that I got to try: Snackimals Peanut Butter and Snackimals Double Chocolate!

Let me tell you — you can’t go wrong with these.  I brought them to a pool play date we had with my husband’s aunt, a bunch of his cousins, and their kids.  Needless to say, we had a lot of people who got to try these out.  Everybody loved them.  You know you have a great product when the adults are snacking on the snackimals just as much as the kids.  Both snackimals were good, but I have to admit that my favorite was the double chocolate.  (Seriously, who doesn’t like chocolate?)  Another thing that impressed my husband’s aunt was that the bags have weight to them.  It isn’t like normal cookies where the bag is as light as can be (and you are hungry again 20 minutes later).  These were a hit! The fact that they are better for you is an added benefit!

Since these were such a hit here, I’ve arranged for one lucky winner to get their own set of cookies!  Here’s what you need to do:

Head over to Barbara’s Bakery and tell me another one of their products you’d like to try!
