We love Pillsbury!

Written by Lisa on October 15, 2008 – 12:28 am -

My family and I recently got the opportunity to try several Pillsbury products.  Needless to say, they were a big hit in our house.  The first item we tried was the Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. We have both the normal sized ones and the mini ones.  I love how easy they are to make. All you need to do is open the package, put them on the cookie sheet, and throw them in the oven. It is so easy that Madison (my four-year-old) can do it.  We made these with her on Sunday morning before my parents left to go home (back to Green Bay). The mini cinnamon rolls are the perfect size for little kids. Both of my kids love them. If you are watching your portion control, these are great for you also.  All of the rolls were eaten for breakfast Sunday morning.

Tonight, we tried making pizza with the Pillsbury thin pizza crust.  Normally, pizza making is my husband’s job.  With two little ones underfoot, it is a pain to have to take dough and shape into a pizza.  It just takes way too long.  We were both pleasantly surprised when we open the thin crust pizza dough and found that it fit right into our cookie sheets. Actually, my husband was ecstatic.  Since we did not have to shape the dough, pizza making took half the time it normally does.  We actually like to make homemade pizzas, because it becomes a family event.  We are able to include Madison, and she truly enjoys that.  In a couple of years, Will will be able to join us also.  The pizzas only took about nine minutes to cook.   The cheese was melted, and the crust was cooked to perfection.  What more can you ask for?

The only thing we have left to try are the Crescent Recipe Creations. They are just like the crescent rolls, but without the perforations! I am hoping to try those within the next couple of days and let you know how they are.

Right now, I have been told by my husband that I need to buy these two items (especially the next time I go shopping, because they are a huge hit here!  Have you tried these yet?  If not, what are you waiting for?

Tuna Noodle Skillet

Written by Lisa on August 14, 2008 – 12:16 am -

This is a quick easy to make recipe.  This works well when you don’t have a lot of time to make dinner!

3 1/2 cups of mini penne noodles
1 cup chopped celery
2 tbsp water
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup ranch dressing
1 can tuna, drained, flaked
1 jar chopped pimientos, drained

Cook and drain noodles as directed on the box. While they are cooking, place celery and water in a skillet and cover. Cook over medium heat for 3-4 minutes.

Once the noodles are done, stir the noodles and the remaining ingredients and into the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes until thoroughly heated.

Four Foods On Friday 40

Written by Lisa on August 1, 2008 – 4:40 pm -

Here are this week’s four questions. This week they’re about candy.  If you want to join Val’s Meme, check it out here.

#1. Candy. Do you prefer sweet or sour candy? Sweet

#2. Gum. Love it? Hate it? What kind is your favorite? Love it.  Anything that tastes like bubble gum, I like.

#3. What is your favorite candy? Its a tie between M&Ms and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

#4. Share a recipe for anything that you can include a piece of candy in.

Mini Pizza Cookies

1 20 oz tube of refrigerated sugar cookie dough
2 cups (16 oz) prepared pink frosting
M&Ms Chocolate Mini baking Bits
Variety of additional toppings such as shredded coconut, granola, raisins, candy, nuts, small pretzels, snack mixes, sunflower seeds, popped corn, and mini marshmellows

Preheat over to 350 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheets and set aside.

Divide dough into 8 equal portions. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion of dough into 1/4 inch thick circle. Place about 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets. Bake 10 - 13 minutes or until golden brown on edges. Cool completely on wire racks.

Spread top of each pizza with frosting. Sprinkle with M&M’s Chocolate Mini baking Bits and 2 or 3 of the suggested toppings.

This is a great easy to make recipe for kids too! They truly enjoy being able to decorate their own “pizza”
