Heathier Ways To Grill

Written by Lisa on May 26, 2008 – 5:30 pm -

Here are a couple of tips to help you do some healthier grilling this summer.  There have been several studies done that have shown that eating grilled red meat may raise your risk of cancer.

  • Scrape off any charred portions off the racks.
  • Raise the grill racks and keep the temperature lower to lessen the smoke and the flames that reach the food.
  • Flip your food with tongs or with a spatula.  A fork will pierce your food which releases the juice and fat that leads to flare ups.
  • Grill skinless chicken and fish.
  • Microwave meat before grilling and use oil free marinades to hinder the formation of cancer causing chemicals.
  • Make kebabs with fruits and vegetables which don’t form harmful chemicals when flame cooked.
