The Popcorn Family

Written by Lisa on October 16, 2008 – 10:11 pm -

I love popcorn.  It actually ranks up there for one of my favorite snacks of all time.  I would have to say that my favorite kind of popcorn has to be caramel corn.  Now, I don’t think I’ve ever given popcorn as a gift, but I have gotten it as a gift.  As long as there is caramel corn in the tin, I am a happy camper.

If you are looking for a great holiday gift for the person who has everything, I recommend checking out The Popcorn Factory.  They have gifts for every occasion — new baby, Sweetest Day, your favorite football team, your favorite baseball team, and snack for students — just to name a few.  The designed tins they have are awesome.  Since Halloween is just a couple weeks away, I thought I’d include a picture of a Halloween tin.  They only use the highest quality ingredients — 100% corn oil, real butter, and genuine cheddar cheese. They have 18 different flavors, so there is definitely something for everyone. If you are not sure what flavor you would like, you can even order a sampler pack!  Also, if you find a flavor you absolutely love, you can order refills too!  If you are feeling especially adventurous, you can even get their flavor of the month.

If you are a popcorn fan or know someone who it is, go check out The Popcorn Family.  I am getting hungry just looking at all this yummy popcorn.

EnviroKidz Bars Giveaway!

Written by Lisa on September 3, 2008 – 10:28 pm -

Would you like a healthy snack for your children?  Would you like a healthy snack for yourself?  If so, the EnviroKidz organic crispy bars is what you are looking for. EnviroKidz Crispy Rice Bars comes in two new flavors – Lemur Peanut Choco Drizzle (chunky peanut butter and peanuts with chocolate drizzle) and Penguin Fruity Burst (’marshmallowy’ taste with colourful bits of fun fruity bursts). These low fat bars are made from whole brown rice.  They are low in sugar and sodium.  They have no trans fats and are a great gluten free option.  Now, the Fruity Burst bars were a tad sweet for me.  However, Madison (my 4 year old) inhaled them.  Now, the Peanut Choco Drizzle were saved for mommy.  I had quite the chocolate craving when we got these, so I ate those myself.  They were super good, took care of my chocolate craving, and were healthy.  I’d much rather give these to my kids than most of the snack foods that are out there.  I’d rather eat one of these instead of a candy bar.

Now, I would love for you to try these and have arranged for 2 lucky winners to get a box of each flavor of these bars.  Here what you can do to enter:

Each one of these things will give you one entry:

Sometimes I Feel Like A Nut . . .

Written by Lisa on August 17, 2008 – 12:39 pm -

And if you do too, you should definitely try out Frito-Lays new brand.  Its called True North.  They have everything from nut clusters to nut crunches to nut crisps to whole nuts.  They seriously take care of any “nut” need you may have.  Their mission statement is one of most unique ones I’ve seen in a long time.  It is “to bring inspiration to natural snacking”.  Recently, Bill (the hubby) and I tried a couple of the peanut crunches. We tried both the toasted sesame and the honey wheat.  I’ll be honest, when I opened the package of the honey wheat crunches, I just wanted to smell them all day.  They smell that yummy!  They also taste just as good too.   Some other things I like about them are that they are 100% natural, no preservatives, no artificial flavors, and no added colors.  They also are a good source of protein and fiber.  All the nuts are also grown and produced in the United States of America.  They are both kosher and vegan too!

Where can you get these?  Target, CVS, Sam’s, and Walmart carry these wonderful snacks.  If you feel like a nut and don’t want your normal plain boring peanut, give these a try!  You won’t regret it and will pick up a new healthy snack.

Four Foods On Friday 40

Written by Lisa on August 1, 2008 – 4:40 pm -

Here are this week’s four questions. This week they’re about candy.  If you want to join Val’s Meme, check it out here.

#1. Candy. Do you prefer sweet or sour candy? Sweet

#2. Gum. Love it? Hate it? What kind is your favorite? Love it.  Anything that tastes like bubble gum, I like.

#3. What is your favorite candy? Its a tie between M&Ms and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

#4. Share a recipe for anything that you can include a piece of candy in.

Mini Pizza Cookies

1 20 oz tube of refrigerated sugar cookie dough
2 cups (16 oz) prepared pink frosting
M&Ms Chocolate Mini baking Bits
Variety of additional toppings such as shredded coconut, granola, raisins, candy, nuts, small pretzels, snack mixes, sunflower seeds, popped corn, and mini marshmellows

Preheat over to 350 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheets and set aside.

Divide dough into 8 equal portions. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion of dough into 1/4 inch thick circle. Place about 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets. Bake 10 - 13 minutes or until golden brown on edges. Cool completely on wire racks.

Spread top of each pizza with frosting. Sprinkle with M&M’s Chocolate Mini baking Bits and 2 or 3 of the suggested toppings.

This is a great easy to make recipe for kids too! They truly enjoy being able to decorate their own “pizza”
